About the Artist
Romona Sandon is a West Australian artist and designer based in the riverside suburb of Bassendean, on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. Her work spans a variety of mediums, from oils, acrylics, and watercolour to pencil, collage, and digital art, reflecting an endless curiosity for materials and creative exploration.
Ever since she can remember, she’s been drawing, doodling, and scribbling. Even during her early years studying and working in fields far removed from the art world, including health and medicine, you could often find her distractedly sketching lecturers, classmates, or colleagues in meetings. That creative pull eventually led her to a career in Architecture, where she discovered the beauty of precision and detail.
Romona’s background in Sustainable Architecture continues to shape her art practice today. It influences her choice of subject matter, materials, and ongoing commitment to working in ways that respect both the environment and the stories of the Australian flora, fauna and landscape.
These days, she balances her time between family life, her architecture business, interior design work, and her art practice, and it’s often in the overlap of these worlds that her most rewarding creations take shape.
You can find videos of Romona’s process, time-lapse sessions, and tutorials on her YouTube channel, and follow her latest works and behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram and Facebook.
